Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an internet connection to play? +
No. Mahjong Ethereal is a complete single-player experience. Every mode — story, mirror duel, puzzles, and codex — works fully offline. You only need a connection to download the app.
Is my progress saved online? +
All progress is stored locally on your device. We do not collect or upload any personal data. To keep your save when changing devices, use your platform's device backup (e.g. iCloud).
How do the five suits counter each other? +
Characters (War) beats Dots (Mountain), which beats Winds (Sky), which beats Characters. Bamboos (Wind) beats Honors (Fortune), which beats Bamboos. Build around these matchups and trigger Suit Resonance by chaining the same school.
The game feels too hard at a chapter boss. +
Try a different suit focus, swap your deck in the Deck Workshop, or revisit earlier trials to collect more tiles and titles. Rule-restricted stages are designed to push you to rethink your build.
Are there ads or in-app purchases? +
No third-party ads and no tracking SDKs. The game is built as a pure offline experience. (See our Privacy Policy for details.)
How do I change the language? +
Go to Settings from the main menu, then tap the language picker at the top. Mahjong Ethereal supports English and Simplified Chinese. The game follows your system language by default.
